Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Shift: Days – 35 hours/week (Report Time: 7:20 AM; Building Hours: 7:30 AM – 2:11 PM)
Duration: 38 weeks
Job Duties
• Provide direct nursing care to a 12th-grade student diagnosed with Autism.
• Provide and monitor G-tube feedings according to physician orders and the student's Individualized Healthcare Plan (IHP).
• Monitor the student's health condition and promptly report changes or concerns to the supervising RN.
• Assist with daily health needs, including feeding, toileting, and personal hygiene as required.
• Administer medications as prescribed under RN supervision and district policy.
• Perform routine nursing procedures and respond appropriately to medical needs and emergencies.
• Work closely with special education staff to support the student's healthcare and educational needs.
• Implement physician orders, IHPs, and applicable IEP/504 health supports.
• Provide one-on-one nursing care and maintain a safe environment throughout the school day.
• Maintain accurate health records, treatment logs, medication documentation, and student interaction records.
• Communicate health concerns to the supervising RN and collaborate effectively with the school team.
• Follow all established school communication, confidentiality, and safety protocols.
• Active Pennsylvania LPN license; RN license also accepted as specified by the position.
• Demonstrated competency in G-tube feedings and other required nursing procedures.
• Experience with pediatric, school-aged, medically complex, or developmentally disabled individuals; school-based experience preferred.
• Experience supporting individuals with Autism and/or complex medical needs.
• Ability to implement physician orders, IHPs, and emergency care plans.
• Ability to work independently and respond appropriately to medical needs in real time.
• BLS certification/verification required.
• First Aid course required.
• CPI or MAB de-escalation training required per facility requirements.
• Ability to maintain reliable attendance and punctuality according to the PPS school calendar and assigned schedule.
• Professional conduct, confidentiality, and effective communication required.
• Ability to complete accurate daily documentation and required service logs.
• Ability to meet all required license verification, background checks, medical screenings, and facility-specific compliance requirements.
